Algerian prime minister begins official visit to Chad to bolster ties

Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, mandated by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, began an official visit to Chad this Monday. This trip aims to strengthen fraternal bonds and deepen cooperation and partnership between Algeria and Chad.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by State Minister and Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjal, and the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Abed Hallouz, along with several heads of national companies active in hydrocarbons, energy, and electricity.

Upon arrival at N’Djamena International Airport, the Prime Minister was welcomed by his Chadian counterpart, Head of Government Allamaye Halina, accompanied by several Chadian government officials and senior figures.

Following the welcome ceremony, the two prime ministers held a bilateral working session. They reviewed the progress of the distinguished relations between Algeria and Chad and exchanged views on ways to give new impetus to bilateral cooperation and expand its scope, reflecting the shared will of both countries’ leaders to elevate fraternal ties and cooperation to broader horizons serving the common interests of the two brotherly peoples.

During this visit, the Prime Minister, along with his Chadian counterpart, will preside over the groundbreaking ceremony for an Algerian-Chadian solidarity power plant in the Farcha industrial zone of N’Djamena, with a capacity of 40 megawatts. This project will be carried out by Sonelgaz International as a donation from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria to the sister Republic of Chad, in line with the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reaffirming Algeria’s ongoing commitment to support sustainable development processes in brotherly African countries, while consolidating the values of African solidarity and cooperation through structural projects with a direct impact on economic and social development.

The Prime Minister will also hold consultations with the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, on prospects for strengthening the Algerian-Chadian partnership, as well as on major regional and African issues of common interest.

This visit of the Prime Minister to Chad comes within the positive and growing momentum of Algerian-Chadian relations, materializing the common will of the two countries’ leaders to raise bilateral cooperation to higher levels and strengthen economic and development partnership.
