Algerian Prime Minister wraps up Niger visit after commissioning landmark power plant
Niamey — Algeria’s Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, concluded a high-profile official visit to the Niger Republic on Wednesday, marking the end of a mission centered on strengthening bilateral ties and advancing critical infrastructure projects.
The visit culminated in the formal inauguration of the Algerian-Nigerien Solidarity Power Plant, a 40-megawatt facility generously donated by Algeria as part of its commitment to supporting Niger’s sustainable development and energy sector growth.
Power plant inauguration highlights Algeria’s commitment to Niger
The newly commissioned power plant stands as a testament to the deep-rooted solidarity and cooperation between Algeria and Niger, reflecting a shared vision for regional stability and economic progress. The facility, built entirely as a gift from Algeria, is expected to significantly enhance Niger’s energy independence and supply reliability.
At the helm of this initiative was Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, who co-chaired the inauguration ceremony alongside Niger’s Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Lamine Zeine Mahaman. The event was attended by high-ranking officials from both nations, underscoring the strategic importance of the project.
During the ceremony, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb was received by Niger’s Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani, to whom he conveyed warm greetings from Algeria’s President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The Prime Minister reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering support for strengthening fraternal, cooperative, and solidarity-based relations between the two countries.
