The spokesperson for Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Adam Mahamat, has once again categorically rejected allegations of a plot to destabilize the Central African Republic (CAR) originating from N’Djamena.
Chadian diplomacy has dismissed these claims as part of a deliberate misinformation campaign aimed at tarnishing Chad’s reputation and straining its ties with the neighboring Central African Republic.
Firm condemnation of disinformation tactics
In a strongly worded statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned “these deceptive maneuvers with the utmost severity”, urging those responsible to exercise restraint and calling on media outlets and social media users to prioritize verified facts over unfounded rumors.
Chad’s unwavering stance on regional stability
The Chadian government reiterated that “Chad has never been, is not, and will never be involved in any subversive activity against a fellow African state.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the country’s commitment to upholding the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference, stressing that Chad’s stability is intrinsically linked to that of the wider subregion.
President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno places paramount importance on these principles, reinforcing Chad’s dedication to fostering peace and cooperation among neighboring nations.
Ongoing regional scrutiny over alleged destabilization efforts
Chad has frequently faced accusations from multiple Central and East African states regarding its alleged support for various armed groups operating across borders. Recent scrutiny has focused on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), engaged in conflict with the Sudanese Armed Forces since April 15, 2023.
