Chad police crackdown nets 29 suspects in N’Djamena crackdown

N’Djamena — The National Police of Chad has unveiled 29 individuals suspected of involvement in a series of criminal activities following a coordinated crackdown in the capital city.

The suspects, arrested between May 15 and June 1, 2026, face allegations ranging from weapons trafficking and aggravated robbery to illegal immigration and organized crime.

Operation unites multiple security forces

Police Chief Mahamat Idriss Mahamat confirmed that the arrests were the result of a joint operation involving intelligence units, public security commissions, central investigative services, and the Ngueli border police post. This unified effort targeted criminal networks operating across N’Djamena and surrounding areas.

Diverse charges against suspects

The suspects have been divided into four categories based on the severity and nature of their alleged crimes:

  • Organized crime and armed robbery: Individuals linked to criminal syndicates and armed heists.
  • Motorcycle theft and complicity: Suspects caught in the act of stealing motorcycles with accomplices.
  • Property theft: Cases involving the theft of laptops, phones, gold, textiles, and other valuables.
  • Vehicle break-ins and illegal entry: Suspects apprehended while committing thefts from vehicles and entering Chad unlawfully.

Following formal interrogations, all suspects were processed according to legal procedures, ensuring transparency and adherence to due process.

The Police National Directorate continues to prioritize public safety by dismantling criminal networks and deterring illegal activities in Chad.
