Deadly Ebola Outbreak Claims Over 500 Lives in DRC
The ongoing Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has surpassed 500 deaths, according to the latest data from the Congolese Ministry of Health.

- 1,561 confirmed cases reported, including 506 deaths
- 253 patients declared recovered
- 628 active cases receiving hospital care or isolation
The DRC government has declared the outbreak on May 15 and it is now spreading across 36 health zones in the provinces of Ituri, North Kivu, and South Kivu.
Ituri Province Worst Hit
The Ituri province remains the hardest hit, accounting for over 91% of confirmed cases and nearly 84% of deaths since the start of the outbreak, according to Congolese authorities.

The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that the Ebola virus is evolving rapidly and spreading sustainably. As of July 1, over 10,800 individuals in contact with confirmed cases are being monitored for potential exposure in Ituri and North Kivu as part of the ongoing efforts to contain the outbreak.
