Fbi highlights Morocco’s pivotal role in world cup 2026 security efforts

The Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Christopher Raia, paid a visit on Wednesday to the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC), a hub where law enforcement and security officials from all 2026 World Cup participant nations gather.

This high-profile meeting was part of a broader initiative to strengthen security measures for the tournament. During his visit, Raia held a dedicated session with representatives from Morocco’s National Security Directorate and Territorial Surveillance Directorate (DGSN-DGST), expressing deep appreciation for their involvement in safeguarding the event.

Raia commended Morocco for its reliability and global reputation in security operations, emphasizing its critical contribution to the World Cup’s safety framework. The FBI views the North African nation as an indispensable partner in ensuring seamless coordination during the tournament.

Addressing security delegates at the IPCC, he underscored the indispensable role of international collaboration, particularly in intelligence sharing, to execute the rigorous security plan for the World Cup co-hosted by the United States. Raia highlighted the monumental challenge of securing 78 matches over two weeks, stressing that such an endeavor requires unprecedented global cooperation.

He also noted a marked increase in intercepted threats within the U.S., attributing this success to the precision of intelligence received and the steadfast support of allied nations like Morocco. The FBI’s recognition of Morocco’s expertise reflects the growing trust in African security institutions ahead of the tournament.
