The President of Gabon, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, met yesterday at the Palais Rénovation with Libreville’s mayor, Eugène Mba. This was their second official encounter since their initial discussion on April 28, focusing on the ongoing oversight of local governance, performance evaluation of municipal executives, and strengthening ties between state authorities and local administrations.
Eugène Mba presented a comprehensive progress report of his mandate since assuming office on April 24. He outlined Libreville’s new municipal structure while highlighting key transformation projects aimed at reshaping the capital. These include reorganizing urban spaces, developing modern parking facilities, expanding green and botanical areas, curbing illegal public land occupation, enhancing neighborhood infrastructure, and accelerating the digitalization of municipal services.
The Head of State emphasized the critical need to accelerate urban sanitation, stressing that cleanliness is a non-negotiable priority. He called for intensified efforts to improve household waste collection systems across the city.
Reaffirming his commitment to a modern and appealing Gabon, the President underscored that Libreville, as the nation’s showcase, must meet global standards in urban planning, local governance, and public service delivery. He urged Mayor Eugène Mba to demonstrate unwavering dedication, creative problem-solving, and operational efficiency in implementing the city’s ambitious agenda.
