Sonko urges followers to abandon mockery of authorities in political discourse

During a rally at Dakar Arena, Ousmane Sonko, leader of the Pastef party and President of the National Assembly, delivered a stern message to his followers. He called for an end to derogatory language and mocking nicknames directed at government officials, emphasizing that such behavior undermines meaningful political engagement.

The Patriotes leader stressed that personal attacks and provocative rhetoric serve as a trap, often leading to legal repercussions for those who engage in them. Instead, he urged supporters to channel their energy into debating ideas and policies, fostering a climate of constructive dialogue rather than confrontation.

Highlighting the strategic shift for his party, Sonko outlined a renewed focus on grassroots mobilization. He emphasized the importance of reaching every corner of the country to strengthen Pastef’s foundations and expand its support base. Additionally, he underscored the need for enhanced political and intellectual training for activists, aiming to solidify the party’s commitment to republican values.
