N’Djamena — A landmark ceremony unfolded today at the Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) as the 6th cohort of Enfants de Troupe was officially inducted, marking their transition from recruits to full-fledged military students. The event also celebrated academic and athletic excellence among the graduating class.
The solemn gathering was attended by top military and civilian leaders, including General Hisseine Abderamane Haggar and Yangmmargue Beh Félix, Second Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces. Also present were defense attachés from allied nations, N’Djamena’s mayor, the Sultan of the city’s first arrondissement, proud parents, and distinguished alumni of the program.
Speaking before the assembled dignitaries, the GEMIA commandant highlighted the remarkable journey of the 76 students who joined on October 6, 2025. After months of rigorous training—far from family comforts—the recruits had embraced the core values of camaraderie, discipline, and solidarity. “Today, they shed the label of ‘newcomers’ to proudly wear the badge of Enfants de Troupe,” the general declared.
He underscored the institution’s guiding philosophy, echoing the vision of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno: “The future of Chad is built in its classrooms.” This principle is embodied in the school’s motto: “Learn to build better,” anchored in honor, excellence, and unwavering commitment.
The ceremony also honored top performers across multiple categories. Academic standouts, model students, and sports achievers received recognition for their dedication. The commandant commended the laureates, urging them to sustain their momentum of growth and service.
In closing, he called on partners and the Association of Former Enfants de Troupe to collaborate in elevating the institution to national prominence. With expressions of gratitude to parents for their pivotal role in nurturing the nation’s future leaders, the event concluded on a note of pride and anticipation for the road ahead.
