The Ministry of Housing and Transport in Bénin has granted civil engineers an additional 30 days to complete their registration with the National Order of Civil Engineers of Bénin. Professionals now have until the end of the month to finalize this essential step online.
In an official statement signed by Georges Alé, the Minister overseeing the sector, the government emphasized the importance of this registration phase. The extension aligns with Article 65 of Decree No. 2021-300 dated June 9, 2021, which governs the civil engineering profession in the country.
Who should register?
This registration campaign targets all Bénin-trained civil engineers, whether they practice locally or abroad. Eligible candidates include holders of a design engineering diploma, a state-recognized professional master’s degree (or equivalent) accredited by the CAMES, or any other comparable qualification.
The scope covers multiple engineering specialties, including:
- Building and public works
- Geotechnics
- Transport infrastructure
- Hydraulics
- Energy infrastructure
- Sanitation and environmental engineering
- Electronics, IT, and telecommunications
Next steps for professionals
The Ministry urges all qualifying engineers to submit their applications through the dedicated platform, onic.bj, within the 30-day window. This move aims to ensure a smooth transition toward establishing the first official register of civil engineers in Bénin.
The government underscores that compliance with this process is critical for the effective launch of the National Order, reinforcing professional standards and accountability across the sector.
