“Elections must proceed as scheduled—no delays are acceptable. The electoral calendar is not the government’s property; it belongs to the Cameroonian people,” Osih declared. His appeal for a unified opposition front remains unanswered so far.

This demand follows months of controversy after legislative and municipal elections were postponed. The government passed a bill through the National Assembly and issued a decree in June 2026 extending mandates until February 2027, citing financial, logistical, and security constraints as well as electoral calendar adjustments.

The opposition has yet to respond formally to Osih’s call for collective action. Political analysts suggest that without a coordinated strategy, the fragmented opposition risks weakening its influence in upcoming electoral processes.
