Football Ligue 1 : après les incidents face à Toulouse, le FC Nantes écope d’un match à huis clos
Following the disturbances that led to the premature conclusion of the encounter between Nantes and Toulouse during the 24th and final fixture of Ligue 1, the club was penalized this Wednesday with a requirement to play one match behind closed doors next season.
The anticipated penalty has been issued to FC Nantes. Following the pitch invasion on May 17, which occurred at the start of the match between the Canaries and Toulouse, instigated by ultra supporters protesting the club’s relegation to Ligue 2, the LFP Disciplinary Commission rendered its decision this Wednesday, imposing a firm one-match closed-door sanction on FC Nantes.
No points deduction imposed
The football authorities additionally confirmed the 0-0 scoreline that stood at the moment the fixture was interrupted.
Beyond the complete stadium closure, the Tribune Loire, identified as the origin of the disruptions, will face an additional two-match closure.
However, the disciplinary action could have been more severe, as the Canaries were at risk of a points deduction for the upcoming Ligue 2 season, a penalty that ultimately was not applied.
