Gabonese psd leader maganga moussavou pledges support for president oligui nguema’s vision

Following President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema’s recent State of the Nation address, Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou, who leads the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and previously served as Vice-President, shared his perspectives. As a distinguished former Vice-President, Maganga Moussavou lauded the address as one focused on decisive action, collective responsibility, and a crucial shift in societal attitudes. He highlighted President Oligui Nguema’s reaffirmed commitment to the Gabonese populace, urging citizens to actively shape their own destiny and reclaim control over the nation’s economic drivers.

Maganga Moussavou firmly believes this vision warrants strong backing, particularly regarding the opportunities it presents for Gabon’s youth. He commended the initiatives established via the Banque pour le commerce et l’entrepreneuriat du Gabon (BCEG), viewing them as vital tools to foster private enterprise and economic self-sufficiency. Expressing his alignment, he stated, « I resonate with the President’s discourse, » while simultaneously voicing his earnest hope that the outlined commitments will genuinely transform into tangible actions for the welfare of the citizenry.

A measured endorsement

Acknowledging the myriad challenges confronting the new administration, the PSD leader recognized the inherently complex nature of the President’s mandate, given the high expectations from the Gabonese people. Nevertheless, he asserted that the reforms initiated since August 30, 2023, provide a solid foundation upon which this African nation can build fresh momentum. In his view, only a unified national mobilization will enable Gabon to overcome the significant economic, social, and institutional hurdles it faces.

Describing himself as a « clear-sighted opposition figure, » Pierre-Claver Maganga Moussavou reiterated his willingness to support any endeavor that serves the broader national interest. He affirmed, « He can rely on me in his mission, » underscoring his readiness to dedicate his extensive experience to national development. Beyond political differences, he advocated for responsible cooperation as a means to foster the country’s progress and fulfill the aspirations of all Gabonese citizens.
