Liverpool eyes Bradley Barcola as Yan Diomande joins PSG

The Reds have adjusted their summer strategy after priority target Yan Diomande announced plans to join Paris Saint-Germain instead of moving to Anfield. Now, Liverpool is actively pursuing Bradley Barcola, a rising star from the same league, to fill the void left by Mohamed Salah’s potential departure.

Diomande’s PSG move leaves Liverpool seeking alternatives

Liverpool’s pursuit of Yan Diomande, the young winger from RB Leipzig, has hit a snag as the 19-year-old starlet is set to sign with PSG. His impressive performances in the World Cup caught the attention of multiple top European clubs, but the French champions appear to have edged out the competition with a strong offer.

Leipzig initially demanded a hefty transfer fee, which deterred Liverpool from pushing forward with negotiations. The Reds were unwilling to meet the asking price, leaving them to explore other options for their attacking reinforcement.

Barcola emerges as Liverpool’s top replacement option

With Diomande off the table, Liverpool has turned its attention to Bradley Barcola, who also plays for PSG. The 23-year-old French international has been identified as a prime candidate to eventually succeed Salah, especially after the successful acquisition of Victor Munoz from Osasuna.

Barcola’s situation at PSG adds intrigue to his potential move. Despite his talent, he has faced frustration over limited playing time in key matches, including PSG’s recent Champions League final victory over Arsenal. His exclusion from the starting lineup has raised questions about his future under Luis Enrique’s management, making a summer exit plausible.

PSG may be forced to sell Barcola this summer

While PSG has no immediate intention of parting ways with Barcola, the club could be compelled to sell if an attractive offer materializes. With just two years remaining on his contract, this summer represents the last opportunity for the Parisian club to secure a substantial transfer fee if Barcola declines a contract extension.

Though Arsenal has been mentioned as a potential suitor, Liverpool appears to be the most determined bidder. The Reds are prepared to test PSG’s resolve, particularly if Barcola returns from international duty unsettled about his role within the team.

Barcola’s impressive track record at PSG

Since joining PSG in the summer of 2023 for €45 million, Barcola has made 152 appearances across all competitions, scoring 39 goals and providing 37 assists. His trophy cabinet includes twelve titles, with back-to-back Champions League victories and three Ligue 1 championships.

On the international stage, he delivered a goal and an assist for France during the World Cup group stages, further solidifying his reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers.
