Manchester United ahead of PSG in pursuit of Mateus Fernandes

On the heels of winning back-to-back Champions League titles, Paris Saint-Germain have planned an active summer transfer window. The capital club aim to refresh Luis Enrique’s squad and have explored several leads, including a move for Mateus Fernandes. However, a Premier League giant appears to be leading the chase for the 21-year-old attacking midfielder.

After securing their second consecutive UEFA Champions League trophy, PSG intend to be active in the transfer market this summer. The Parisian side wants to rejuvenate Luis Enrique’s squad for the upcoming season and has activated multiple avenues in the transfer market. Among the names linked in recent weeks is Mateus Fernandes. The Portugal international, who was not called up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is expected to leave West Ham United. But the Rouge-et-Bleu are not in an advantageous position for the 21-year-old midfielder.

Manchester United leading the race for Mateus Fernandes?

According to insider reports, Manchester United are currently in pole position for Mateus Fernandes. The West Ham player reportedly has a clear preference for the Red Devils in this transfer, despite interest from Tottenham Hotspur and other clubs in the market. PSG thus appear to be losing ground to the Premier League powerhouse in this pursuit.

PSG progressing on other fronts

Meanwhile, PSG continue to advance on other transfer targets. The capital club is said to be in a relatively strong position regarding the transfers of Yan Diomandé and Maghnes Akliouche. The Ivory Coast international from RB Leipzig and the attacking midfielder from AS Monaco are reportedly keen on joining the double European champions this summer. However, the combined fee for these two deals could reach around 200 million euros. Stay tuned for further developments.
