Scathing attack on the Pastef leader
The political atmosphere in Senegal remains highly charged around the constitutional reform and the relationships between various figures in the majority and opposition. This Sunday, Modou Mbacké Bara Dolly, former president of the PDS parliamentary group, launched a fierce verbal assault on Ousmane Sonko.
In an aggressive statement, he described the Pastef leader as the “greatest manipulator on the political scene,” accusing him of contradictory positions and repeated accusations without evidence.
Allegations on multiple sensitive cases
The former deputy specifically referenced several controversies that have shaped Senegalese political debate in recent years, including the Adji Sarr affair, claims about supposed payments of 10 million CFA francs to deputies, and the rumor of a public account estimated at 1,000 billion CFA francs.
According to Dolly, these assertions were never proven. “The deputies never received the 10 million he talked about. It was false,” he stated, challenging the credibility of Sonko’s past statements.
Questioning Sonko’s political consistency
Modou Mbacké Bara Dolly also accuses the current president of the National Assembly of renouncing some of his earlier positions. He believes Sonko’s political discourse has shifted to the point of contradicting his initial commitments.
He asserts that the former prime minister has gradually moved away from the breakaway logic he once championed, adopting instead a posture centered on his own political interests.
Revelations about past political ties
The former PDS parliamentary leader also touched on the relationships between Ousmane Sonko and certain past political actors, claiming that discussions about potential electoral alliances took place.
He further maintains that talks involved Karim Wade regarding a possible presidential candidacy, while asserting that Sonko did not want other Pastef figures to carry the party’s flag.
Constitutional debate at the heart of tensions
Finally, Modou Mbacké Bara Dolly revisited the controversy surrounding the constitutional revision. In his view, the current debate goes beyond the figure of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and directly concerns the institutional stability of the country.
He believes certain ongoing initiatives aim to fundamentally alter the power structure, something he says he firmly rejects.
“It is not about Diomaye, it is about the Constitution,” he concluded.
