Morocco and the United Kingdom are setting ambitious goals to double bilateral trade and boost investments, leveraging major infrastructure projects and the upcoming 2030 FIFA World Cup. This strategic alignment was highlighted during a high-level meeting in Rabat.
At the Morocco-UK Business Forum, British Minister of State for International Trade Chris Bryant emphasized the need to strengthen economic ties between the two nations. He underscored how the 2030 World Cup could serve as a catalyst for sustainable development, infrastructure upgrades, and long-term economic growth.
Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour echoed this vision, noting that the World Cup represents more than an event—it is a driver for nationwide progress. He pointed out that the competition will spur advancements in transportation, healthcare, and public services across the country, not just in host cities. Over the next eight years, Morocco is rolling out a comprehensive economic and territorial transformation plan to maximize these opportunities.
Addressing British business leaders, Mezzour stressed that Morocco is prioritizing public procurement and large-scale projects to integrate deeper into global value chains. He also highlighted a shift from mere technology transfers toward collaborative ventures focused on investment, innovation, and sustainable competitiveness.
The two-day forum in Rabat and Casablanca drew nearly 50 British firms specializing in infrastructure, transportation, security, engineering, design, and professional services.
