2026 Music Festival in Chad to promote social cohesion

Festival launch signals commitment to cultural unity

The event kicked off with an official launch ceremony at N’Djamena’s Hilton roundabout, presided over by Abakar Rozzi Téguil, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Handicrafts. The gathering brought together government officials, cultural sector leaders, musicians, event organizers and citizens eager to honor Chad’s rich musical heritage.

During the inauguration, the minister emphasized the transformative power of music in strengthening national bonds. He highlighted that this festival aligns with President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno’s national cohesion agenda, positioning culture as a foundation for peace and shared progress.

« This year’s festival marks a shift toward inclusivity, decentralization and accessibility. Music transcends boundaries—it speaks to every heart, uniting people across divides to build peace and harmony in challenging times, » he stated.

Nationwide music tour to reach every corner of Chad

To ensure broad participation, a nationwide musical tour has been announced, covering all ten districts of N’Djamena and multiple provinces. The initiative aims to bring cultural performances directly to communities, from bustling urban centers to remote villages.

« Music belongs to everyone, not just concert halls. It must flow into neighborhoods, public squares, villages and rural areas, nurturing values of solidarity, brotherhood and national pride, » the minister explained.

The festival will feature live performances and interactive cultural activities designed to showcase local talent. Organizers view this celebration as more than cultural enrichment—it’s an economic catalyst, empowering young artists and revitalizing Chad’s creative industries.
