Niger’s top military school honors outstanding students in Niamey

Niamey, June 4, 2026 — The Military Prytanée of Niamey (PMN) recognized its top-performing students during a prestigious awards ceremony marking the close of the 2025-2026 academic year. Held under the patronage of Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Divisional Salaou Barmou, the event celebrated academic excellence among the institution’s young cadets.

The ceremony honored students who ranked first in their classes, spanning from sixth grade to the final year of secondary education. By spotlighting these achievers, school leaders emphasized the core values of merit, dedication, and discipline—principles deeply embedded in the PMN’s educational philosophy.

Among the dignitaries present were members of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), the Vice-President of the Council for the Refoundation Advisory (CCR), foreign diplomats accredited to Niger, the Governor of Niamey, senior officials from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), as well as proud parents and other guests.

Academic excellence shines at Niamey’s Military Prytanée

The awards presented this year underscore the consistently high academic standards maintained at the PMN. The top scores reflect not only the students’ hard work but also the effectiveness of the teaching staff and institutional leadership.

In the junior cycle, the highest average reached 18.55 out of 20, while in the senior cycle, the leading student achieved 17.44 out of 20. These outstanding results highlight the caliber of education provided and the dedication of both learners and educators.

Celebrating merit and shaping future leaders

Beyond the recognition of individual achievement, the ceremony served as a moment to honor the collective effort of all cadets throughout the school year. It also aims to inspire students to continue striving for excellence in academics, civic responsibility, and military training.

The PMN reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing disciplined, skilled, and patriotic young leaders who will contribute to Niger’s future development. The event reinforced the belief that excellence remains a cornerstone of the institution’s educational mission—a legacy that future generations are encouraged to uphold.

For school officials, these achievements represent both a celebration of past efforts and a motivational benchmark for upcoming cohorts to pursue the same path of rigor and self-improvement.
