The Ouragahio commune, under the leadership of Mayor Dr. Pierre Dacoury-Tabley, recently completed a thorough assessment of its women’s empowerment strategy. This review took place alongside a special tribute event for the women of the commune, affectionately known as ‘Mother’s Day,’ which was presided over by the local Sub-Prefect, Tié-Bi Assi Apo Josiane, in the municipal courtyard.
The initiatives evaluated encompassed a range of critical areas. These included fundamental literacy training and essential basic accounting skills specifically tailored for women entrepreneurs. Furthermore, significant attention was given to maternal and child healthcare, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the communal territory with modern maternity wards and health centers. The Mayor emphasized that the overarching goal of these efforts is to ensure mothers remain healthy, enabling them to actively participate in and lead actions towards their own empowerment within the community.
In the realm of commerce, Dr. Dacoury-Tabley highlighted the commencement of construction for a new gastronomic hub, featuring multiple commercial spaces. He explained that this development is designed to provide women with a unique opportunity to showcase their culinary talents and the quality of their products, ultimately allowing these mothers to generate sustainable income from their endeavors.
Empowerment efforts also extend into the agricultural sector. Here, women involved in farming receive crucial support through the provision of dedicated agricultural laborers and workers, assisting them directly in their fields.
