Tchad accelerates freight digitalization with BNFT’s groundbreaking training
The National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) has wrapped up a pivotal training program in N’Djamena to modernize land freight services through digital solutions.
N’Djamena recently hosted a landmark three-day workshop aimed at transforming the country’s land freight sector through digital innovation. Organized by the National Bureau of Land Freight (BNFT) at the Kempinski Hotel N’Djamena, the event brought together transport officials and controllers from across the region to explore cutting-edge digital tools designed to streamline freight operations.
Brahim Mahamat Adoum, Chair of the steering committee, praised participants for their active engagement throughout the program. He highlighted the comprehensive modules covered, which included digital interface navigation, freight declaration processes, carrier management, system configuration, and agency setup. These innovations are expected to significantly enhance administrative efficiency and real-time monitoring of freight activities.
According to BNFT leadership, this initiative aligns with national efforts to digitalize public services and support Tchad’s broader economic modernization goals. The transition to digital tools is particularly crucial for managing mandatory documents like the Obligatory Car Letter (LVO) and Axle Tax (TAE), which require precise digital tracking to ensure compliance and operational transparency. Technical partners TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO were recognized for their role in delivering specialized training and guidance during the workshop.
Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director-General of the steering committee, emphasized that the training focused on equipping agents with the skills to operate and oversee the new e-BNFT platform. He described the shift from paper-based processes to a fully digital system as a transformative leap for the institution, enabling instant document issuance and verification for critical freight documents such as LVO and TAE. The platform also facilitates seamless, contactless processing of transport documents via computers or mobile devices.
The Director-General underscored the platform’s dual role in securing state revenue and generating reliable data for national economic planning. He framed the initiative as part of the government’s broader vision for administrative modernization under the leadership of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno. Concluding the workshop, he urged participants to integrate the platform into daily operations, master its features, and share their knowledge with colleagues to ensure widespread adoption.
The event concluded on a note of optimism, with participants encouraged to champion the digital transformation agenda and address the challenges of modernizing Tchad’s land freight sector.
