Ahoua don-mello launches new political party in Côte d’Ivoire

Abidjan, July 13, 2026 – Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, who was a candidate in the October 2025 presidential election, along with his core team, has embarked on a significant new phase of their political commitment. They are initiating the formation of a new political party, a decision reached during a plenary assembly held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Abidjan.

Gathering with sympathizers and members of Mr. Don-Mello’s presidential campaign organizing committee, participants overwhelmingly endorsed a resolution to establish this new political entity.

This move follows the conclusions of a dedicated reflection commission. Tasked with examining the movement’s organizational prospects, the commission presented a report to the assembly, recommending the creation of a formal political party to provide structure and ensure the long-term viability of the initiatives spearheaded by the former presidential hopeful.

Consequently, the assembly entrusted Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello with the mandate to steer the formation process of this nascent political group and to organize the « Congress of Pioneers », which is slated to be the foundational event of the upcoming party.

This initiative marks a pivotal transformation, evolving the former candidate’s campaign team into a structured political organization. The future party aims to position itself as a force for constructive proposals, unity, and an alternative governance model. It will notably champion values such as democracy, social justice, sound governance, solidarity, meritocracy, and national sovereignty.

Following the deliberations, Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello expressed his gratitude to the attendees for their confidence. He then outlined the broad strategic directions of the political project. He also extended an invitation to all patriotic, progressive, democratic, and sovereignist forces to join this endeavor, with the shared goal of building a Côte d’Ivoire that is « more just, more prosperous, more united, and fully sovereign ».

« Preparatory work for the Congress of Pioneers will commence immediately, and the date for this crucial gathering will be announced as soon as possible, » a statement confirmed.

Dr. Ahoua Don-Mello, formerly Vice-President of the African Peoples’ Party – Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), had been a candidate in the October 2025 presidential election before his expulsion from the party.
