Romuald Wadagni, the President of Bénin, touched down in Ouagadougou on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, for an official visit aimed at strengthening ties with Burkina Faso. The arrival marked the beginning of a high-level engagement between the two neighboring nations.
At Ouagadougou’s international airport, President Wadagni received a formal welcome from Burkina Faso’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The leaders observed the playing of both national anthems before inspecting a military honor guard in a display of mutual respect.

Following the welcoming ceremony, the Presidents of Bénin and Burkina Faso held a private discussion in the airport’s VIP lounge to outline key priorities for their cooperation.

The two leaders then proceeded to the Koulouba Presidential Palace for an in-depth working session to advance bilateral initiatives.
