Romuald Wadagni has officially taken office as Benin’s new President, succeeding Patrice Talon in a solemn ceremony.
Following the investiture, the outgoing President Patrice Talon accompanied his successor to his vehicle, marking the end of an era. The event unfolded at the Palais de la République in La Marina, where a private meeting between the two leaders preceded the public ceremony.
The swearing-in ceremony, held before the Constitutional Court, was attended by key figures in Benin’s political landscape and representatives from over a dozen foreign delegations. During the oath, President Wadagni pledged to uphold and defend the Constitution, vowing to face legal consequences should he violate his oath.
