Burkina Faso security minister assesses nayala province situation

On Sunday, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Security, Mahamadou Sana, embarked on a crucial tour of the Nayala province. Acting under direct instructions from the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, the minister’s mission was multifaceted: to gain a firsthand understanding of the evolving security landscape, to bolster the morale of the dedicated forces operating on the ground, and to attentively record the concerns articulated by the local populace.

Accompanied by the Governor of the Bankui region and various local administrative officials, Minister Sana initiated his engagements by meeting with the customary authorities in Toma. Following these important discussions, he then convened with the province’s administrative leaders and heads of various public services.

During these exchanges, several persistent challenges came to light. Notable among these were difficulties within the health and education sectors, alongside obstacles affecting the mobility of public agents in certain areas of the province.

Minister Mahamadou Sana also held meetings with a wide array of combatants and community representatives, including the Forces of Defense and Security (FDS), the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the Dozos, and other vital forces within the province. He conveyed the profound appreciation of both the President of Faso and the government for the significant achievements in restoring security and for the gradual return of residents to numerous villages previously impacted by instability.

The minister paid tribute to the exceptional courage, unwavering commitment, and professional conduct demonstrated by these combatant forces. He urged them to sustain their high level of vigilance, discipline, and cohesion. Furthermore, he emphasized the critical importance of strengthening cooperation between the local communities and the security forces to cement the gains made in the ongoing fight against terrorism.

In the communes of Kougny and Gassan, residents voiced their satisfaction with the concerted efforts undertaken by the authorities to re-establish peace and facilitate the resettlement of their villages.

Concluding his visit, Mahamadou Sana expressed his contentment with the noticeable improvement in Nayala’s security environment and the strong collaborative spirit between the population and the combatant forces. He reiterated the government’s unwavering resolve to continue its initiatives aimed at ensuring the lasting return of peace and stability, not only within the province but across the entire national territory of Burkina Faso.
