Chad: amgt’s strategic plans validated for N’Djamena’s urban future
The inaugural ceremony for the validation workshop of AMGT’s strategic documents took place in N’Djamena, underscoring the pivotal role of this body in fostering urban development and effective governance.
A pivotal workshop for the validation of strategic documents belonging to the Municipal Agency for Major Works (AMGT) commenced this Monday, June 15, 2026, at the Radisson Blu in N’Djamena. The event drew a significant gathering, including various directors and technical officials, key municipal administration executives, and expert consultants from the Center for Innovation and Development (CID).
The opening ceremony featured a solitary address delivered by Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, the esteemed Mayor of N’Djamena. He reflected on the initial session of AMGT’s Board of Directors, held just months prior. This foundational meeting, as he highlighted, was crucial for grasping the agency’s objectives, responsibilities, and aspirations, while also fostering mutual understanding among its board members.
Mayor Abdoulaye underscored that AMGT was established to bolster the Commune’s capacity in critical areas: conceptualizing, planning, securing funding for, and executing transformative projects. These initiatives are designed to cater to the needs of the populace and align with the capital’s ambitious development goals. The agency aims to cultivate efficient governance and robust management frameworks, all dedicated to the advancement of N’Djamena. Confronted by the multifaceted challenges of rapid urbanization, population growth, strain on urban infrastructure, sanitation demands, and climate resilience, Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye emphasized AMGT’s indispensable role in delivering the essential infrastructure and facilities for harmonious urban growth.
Encouraging participants to engage actively in discussions, share their insights, and provide comprehensive feedback and recommendations to refine the presented documents, the Mayor asserted that the caliber of their contributions would fortify the Agency’s institutional bedrock and ensure its effectiveness in the years ahead. He further stressed that the success of this vital mission is intrinsically linked to the quality of AMGT’s organizational structure, the robustness of its operational mechanisms, and the unwavering transparency and sound governance of its management protocols.
The critical documents under scrutiny by the attendees encompassed: the administrative, financial, and accounting management manual, designed to provide a framework for efficient resource management and measurable outcomes; the monitoring-evaluation manual, intended to elevate performance and cultivate a culture of accountability; and the environmental, social, and gender management framework, which guarantees the integration of sustainable development principles, social inclusion, equity, and environmental protection across all of the Agency’s endeavors.
