Tahir Hamid Nguilin, the Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning, and International Cooperation, co-chaired a significant meeting of the National Joint Steering Committee in N’Djamena this Friday, May 22.
The session focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for the 2024-2026 period. Held in the presence of Dr. François Batalingaya, the UN Resident Coordinator in Chad, the gathering included government officials, UN agency representatives, financial partners, and leaders from the private sector and civil society.
This high-level assembly served two main functions: evaluating the ongoing 2024-2026 cycle and officially starting the consultative process for the upcoming 2027-2030 cooperation framework.
During the proceedings, Tahir Hamid Nguilin praised the enduring partnership between Chad and the United Nations, stressing the strategic weight of such coordination. He reiterated that through the National Development Plan, known as “Chad Connection 2030,” the administration is focused on building a more resilient and inclusive society. The primary goals involve strengthening human capital, addressing climate change, improving governance, and fostering economic empowerment for women and youth.
“This steering committee meeting demonstrates our shared determination to synchronize UN initiatives with Chad’s national development objectives. By approving the 2026 work schedules and preparing for the 2027-2030 cycle, we are cementing our pledge to achieve growth that benefits every citizen,” the Minister of State remarked.
Dr. François Batalingaya noted that the assessment of the current cycle highlights the success of collective action. He explained that as this phase concludes, the focus is shifting toward a renewed ambition. The future 2027-2030 UNSDCF will be designed to meet the financial requirements and the broader aspirations of the Chadian population more effectively.
The participants analyzed lessons from the current framework and identified key strategic areas for the next period, specifically development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. This future roadmap will remain closely integrated with the “Chad Connection 2030” strategic vision.
