The Côte d’Ivoire has once again voiced its unwavering support for the Kingdom of Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire land, including the Sahara region. This commitment was formally declared following high-level discussions in Rabat between Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Foreign Minister, and Nialé Kaba, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, during her official working visit to the country.

Nialé Kaba emphasized that Côte d’Ivoire’s position remains consistent and steadfast, aligning closely with Morocco’s stance on the matter. The visit underscores the deepening diplomatic and strategic ties between the two nations, built on mutual trust and strengthened South-South cooperation.

Strengthening international backing for Morocco’s autonomy initiative

During the talks, Côte d’Ivoire also praised the United Nations Security Council’s adoption of Resolution 2797, which recognizes Morocco’s autonomy plan as the most credible and realistic framework for resolving the regional dispute. The country highlighted its decision to open a consulate general in Laâyoune in 2020, further solidifying the bilateral relationship and demonstrating tangible support for Morocco’s territorial claims.

In response, Nasser Bourita expressed Morocco’s deep appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s longstanding and unwavering support, further cementing the strategic partnership between the two nations. He described the relationship as a model of confidence and collaboration in Africa, rooted in shared values and mutual respect.
