The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), a key party within Gabon’s ruling coalition, has formally commended President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his intensive efforts in service of the nation between August 9 and August 30.
In a statement titled «From Action to Results» and signed by spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the RPM highlighted several breakthrough initiatives, particularly in healthcare, praising the president’s hands-on approach and commitment to inclusive development across Gabon’s provinces.
Healthcare funding and infrastructure: a bold response to public needs
The party underscored a landmark announcement made in Makokou on August 30, where the government pledged 55 billion CFA francs to the health sector. This funding includes 44 billion francs for strengthening the national technical platform, 6 billion francs to reopen cafeterias within hospital facilities, and an additional 5 billion francs allocated to services provided by the Caisse nationale d’assurance maladie et de garantie sociale (CNAMGS).
The RPM emphasized that these measures directly address critical concerns raised by citizens and insisted on the urgent and effective implementation of these commitments to ensure tangible benefits for Gabonese communities.
Development beyond Libreville: spotlight on Ogooué-Ivindo
The communiqué also highlighted the inauguration of multiple health, commercial, administrative, and defense facilities in the Greater Libreville area, as well as the launch of 17 major projects in Ogooué-Ivindo province during the late-August Liberation Day celebrations in Makokou.
Additionally, the RPM pointed to the Mayiga residential site housing program, with 50 units already completed, another 25 under construction, and plans to develop 500 residential plots, demonstrating a clear push to decentralize development beyond the capital.
From promises to performance: the RPM’s call for accountability
Referring to Gabon’s 66th Independence Day and the third anniversary of the Liberation Coup, the RPM echoed the president’s now-famous statement: «The time for promises must give way to the time for results.»
The party declared its full support for this principle, asserting that the true measure of government success lies in the concrete impact of policies on the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.
Regional cooperation and national unity take center stage
The RPM also praised the official visit of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.
In closing, the party reaffirmed its backing for government initiatives aimed at accelerating project execution, ensuring the long-term functionality of newly delivered infrastructure, and boosting youth employment, all while upholding national unity and modernization.
A party rooted in the presidential coalition
Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, Gabon’s current Vice President, the RPM is part of the coalition that supported President Oligui Nguema during the April 12, 2025 presidential election, while maintaining its political independence. The party holds three seats in the National Assembly.
