Gabonese attorney general eddy minang suspended for three months amid corruption probe

A significant development has unfolded within Gabon’s judiciary: Dr. Eddy Narcisse Minang, the Attorney General attached to the Libreville Judicial Court of Appeal and a high-ranking magistrate, has been placed on a three-month precautionary suspension from his duties. This measure, outlined in decision n° 000007/MJGSCDH, was enacted on June 9, 2026, by the Minister of Justice and Keeper of the Seals, Augustin Emane. The esteemed legal professional is reportedly under suspicion for involvement in an opaque network of influence connected to high-profile scandal cases.

During extensive questioning at the Presidency of the Republic, Eddy Narcisse Minang faced a conservative suspension, formally signed by the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals. In adherence to the principle of continuity of public service, the interim leadership of the Attorney General’s office has been immediately entrusted to Thalie Aubone Nguema épouse Edjo, herself a high-ranking magistrate.

Dr. Eddy Minang temporarily removed from judicial apparatus

This temporary removal from the judicial system is purportedly driven by grave suspicions of interference and obstruction of public action. At the heart of this unfolding situation are several contentious financial cases, including a dispute involving the Covec Gabon company, valued at an estimated 4 billion CFA francs. However, the primary catalyst appears to be the case surrounding the Central Directorate of Financial Affairs (DCAF) within the Ministry of National Education.

This DCAF affair, publicly disclosed in early June 2026 by Dick Fabrice Boungou Mikolo, the Public Prosecutor at the Libreville Court of First Instance, involves allegations of over-billing. The investigation has already led to the questioning of approximately twenty agents, with a financial ущерб estimated between 560 and 700 million CFA francs. The suspended Attorney General is suspected of leveraging his influence to impede the ongoing investigation. It is suggested that this inexplicable intervention might stem from regional ties, as both Dr. Minang and the DCAF director reportedly hail from the Woleu-Ntem province. We will continue to follow this developing story closely!
