Maroc praised for leading role in preventing migrant flows

Renowned Moroccan-American scholar Mohamed Daadaoui has highlighted the Kingdom’s pivotal role in shaping regional migration governance. Speaking from Washington, he emphasized Morocco’s emergence as a responsible regional leader and a trusted global partner in combating irregular migration through forward-thinking strategies.

Collaborative solutions over unilateral approaches

Daadaoui praised the seamless coordination between Morocco and Spain, particularly in dismantling human trafficking networks and executing high-stakes rescue operations at sea. Yet he cautioned against overburdening Morocco with sole responsibility. « While Morocco excels in securing its borders, it cannot single-handedly resolve the deep-rooted challenges of irregular migration », he noted, stressing that transit nations alone cannot address transcontinental migration pressures.

Europe urged to adopt strategic migration partnerships

The expert called for European policymakers to shift focus toward addressing the root causes of migration—such as socio-economic disparities—that drive departures from African nations. He underscored that sustainable Mediterranean migration policies hinge on stronger collaboration with Morocco. « Effective migration governance relies fundamentally on a robust partnership with Morocco as a reliable and credible ally », he concluded.
