Ligue des champions: le dispositif pour la finale s’affine, il n’y aura pas de parade sur les Champs Élysées en cas de victoire
The decision stems from a confluence of events scheduled for the evening of May 30th in the greater Paris region. Alongside the Champions League final, numerous concerts are planned, drawing an estimated 150,000 to 200,000 people to the capital’s streets for football, tennis, and musical performances. This exceptional concentration of public events necessitates an impressive security deployment by the Paris Police Prefecture. The entire weekend is expected to be exceptionally busy for internal security forces.
To manage the anticipated crowds and ensure public safety, extensive traffic restrictions will be in effect. From Friday evening at 5 PM until Sunday morning, vehicular access will be prohibited in a wide area. The security perimeter established by the Paris Police Prefecture broadly encompasses the 8th arrondissement. More specifically, parking will be banned across the entirety of the Champs-Élysées and several adjacent avenues, including Avenue Montaigne. These circulation bans also extend to other central districts, such as the 16th and 17th arrondissements. Pedestrian access, however, remains fully authorized.
For the fan zone organized by PSG around the Parc des Princes, law enforcement will implement a security protocol typical of a major match day. This enclosed and secure fan zone proved to be a significant success during last year’s Champions League final festivities, providing a safe environment for supporters.
Champ de Mars considered for celebrations
As is customary, authorities must plan for every possible outcome during security meetings. In the event of a PSG victory on Saturday night, preparations for Sunday’s celebrations are underway, coordinated closely with the Parisian club. Multiple sources indicate that a parade on the Champs-Élysées will not occur this year, a decision confirmed by the 8th arrondissement’s city hall. In 2025, a similar post-victory celebration drew 110,000 people to the iconic avenue.
Instead, a new option is emerging as the primary choice: the Champ de Mars in the 7th arrondissement. A well-informed source confirmed this option is “on the table” and is, in fact, the priority for all stakeholders involved. The Paris Police Prefecture intends to request traffic and parking prohibitions around the Champ de Mars from Saturday, May 30th, at 10 PM until Sunday, May 31st, at 8 PM, to facilitate “the smooth running of a festive event.” If this plan is confirmed, Luis Enrique’s players, should they triumph over Arsenal, could enjoy a celebratory photo opportunity with the Eiffel Tower, a powerful image that significantly boosts the international profile of both France and PSG.
When contacted, Paris Saint-Germain stated that the club is currently “fully mobilized on the preparation of the events organized on May 30th, the day of the Final.” The club added that “no decision has been made and no announcement is planned” regarding post-match celebrations following Saturday’s match in Hungary. PSG affirmed that, should the need arise, “organizational matters will be fully coordinated with the relevant authorities.”
