Yan Diomandé has made a decisive choice in favour of Paris Saint-Germain, turning down Liverpool’s advances. The PSG hierarchy now anticipates wrapping up the deal sooner than initially planned, potentially before the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche.

This could be one of the standout moves of the summer. Paris Saint-Germain appears to have gained the upper hand in the race to secure Yan Diomandé from RB Leipzig. The winger, who is currently impressing for Côte d’Ivoire at the World Cup, has opted to join the French champions despite strong interest from Liverpool, which had already submitted two offers exceeding €100 million to the German club. With the player’s preference now clear, PSG intends to intensify negotiations with RB Leipzig to finalise an agreement swiftly.
PSG growing increasingly confident about Diomandé
PSG officials are highly optimistic about completing the transfer of Yan Diomandé. Thanks to the strong working relationship between club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of the supervisory board at RB Leipzig, the Parisians believe they can move quickly to seal the deal. Sources indicate that Diomandé could become PSG’s first summer signing, even ahead of Maghnes Akliouche, whose discussions were thought to be more advanced. An official announcement could come within days.
First summer signing for Paris?
In the meantime, Yan Diomandé remains focused on the World Cup, where Côte d’Ivoire are preparing for their round-of-16 clash against Norway. After the tournament, he may finally realise his dream of pulling on a PSG shirt. “My future? I have a team handling that. I’m trying to stay as focused as possible. I’ve loved PSG since I was a child. I think my father was a PSG supporter. But I’m not looking ahead; I’m concentrating on the World Cup. We’ll see what happens next,” he said on the sidelines of a friendly match between France and the Elephants before the tournament.
