The Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, held in Rabat on Monday, brought together high-level delegates from both nations to explore new avenues for economic collaboration. Organized by the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services in partnership with the Indian Embassy and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the event featured a 21-member Indian delegation of industry leaders alongside Moroccan business representatives.

The forum aimed to foster sustainable partnerships and mutually beneficial investments, building on the long-standing diplomatic and trade relations between Morocco and India. Hassan Sakhi, President of the organizing chamber, highlighted the deepening economic ties, noting that recent high-level ministerial initiatives and memoranda of understanding in strategic sectors have further strengthened bilateral relations.

Sakhi emphasized the growing interest from Indian businesses in Morocco’s market, particularly in sectors such as automotive, agriculture, IT, healthcare, and energy. He also underscored the robust trade volume between the two countries, positioning India as a key partner for Morocco due to its technological and industrial expertise.

Strategic Partnerships and Investment Opportunities

Mohan Puri, head of the Indian delegation from the CII, stressed the potential for a tripartite partnership uniting India, Morocco, and Africa. He pointed to Morocco’s advantageous position, highlighting its renewable energy, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technology sectors as key areas for collaboration.

Puri noted that Morocco provides an ideal platform for Indian and Moroccan companies to implement projects and develop technologies. The forum featured a documentary showcasing the business climate and investment opportunities in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, alongside a video highlighting the region’s economic strengths.

Key Agreements and Networking

A memorandum of understanding was signed to enhance trade, investments, and industrial partnerships between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. The forum concluded with business-to-business (B2B) meetings and networking sessions, fostering direct exchanges between the two delegations.
