By late June 2026, the construction of the Dja river bridge has reached a crucial phase with nearly all support structures completed. The China Harbour Engineering Company Cameroun team is working around the clock to deliver this vital infrastructure project on schedule.

In addition to the main structure progress, complementary geotechnical studies are underway while execution designs have reached 60% completion. All 20 piles have been successfully installed, and the team has initiated access road construction on the Bissombo side, including reinforcing the culvert piers at PK 0+669, laying replacement materials after clearing at PK 0+818 culvert, and crushing 0/250 aggregates.

The project involves building a 90-meter bridge and 3 kilometers of access roads. Once completed, it will transform connectivity between Assok and Ngombo in the Lobo and Déjà departments of the South region. The total estimated cost for the Dja river bridge is 10,530,686,344 FCFA including taxes.

Beyond the bridge itself, the project includes paving 1,000 meters of access roads – 500 meters on each side of the structure. This will feature a two-lane carriageway with a total width of 7 meters and 1.5-meter shoulders surfaced with two-layer surface dressing. The project also encompasses drainage infrastructure including four culverts (two 2×2.00×1.50m and two 2×2.00×2.00m types) and construction of access embankments on both riverbanks.
