Cameroon’s MRC party reaffirms Maurice Kamto’s role after political transition

The newly elected head of Cameroon’s Commission for Clarification and Restoration—appointed by Maurice Kamto—addressed the evolving political landscape during a national television interview. His remarks shed light on Kamto’s recent departure from the party, a move tied to his presidential ambitions under the MANIDEM coalition, which ultimately faced rejection.

«Maurice Kamto’s resignation from the party was not a true departure. We sent him on a mission. Now, following recent developments, we’ve called for his return to complete his mandate,» Pierre Emmanuel Binyam explained.

As a prominent figure in the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC), Binyam emphasized that the party’s elimination from the 2025 presidential race marked a profound setback for its members.

«Kamto’s disqualification deeply impacted our party. Surveys had consistently projected him as the clear frontrunner, both domestically and internationally. His exclusion left us shattered,» Binyam added.
