The Republic of Chad has been chosen as the guest of honor for the 54th National Day parade in Cameroon, set to take place on May 20, 2026, in Yaoundé and across the nation.
Known locally as the Day of Unity, this annual event honors Cameroon’s national cohesion and stands as one of the country’s most significant civic and patriotic occasions. For the 2026 celebration, officials have adopted the official theme: “National Unity: The Foundation of Our Security and Engine of Cameroon’s Growth.”
In Yaoundé, the festivities will feature a grand display of military precision, cultural performances, and public engagement, with participation from defense forces, educational institutions, youth groups, and civil society organizations. Similar events will unfold in cities and towns nationwide, reinforcing national pride.
The Ministry of Youth and Civic Engagement has unveiled key enhancements for this milestone celebration. Highlights include a nationwide cultural diversity carnival and a week-long decentralization of events, ensuring broader public access to the commemorations.
