The political landscape in Sénégal has been shaken by a direct confrontation involving Waly Diouf Bodiang, the Director General of the Port of Dakar. In a recent statement, Bodiang directed a scathing critique at Minister Serigne Gueye Diop, sparking intense debate across the country.

The controversy stems from a message shared on social media, where the port official took aim at a recent communique from Serigne Gueye Diop. Bodiang dismissed the minister’s communication as a mere “media patching” attempt following what he described as a political “fiasco.”
Confrontation over political influence
Bodiang‘s remarks did not stop at the minister. He extended his criticism to a wider circle of political actors, whom he labeled a “conglomerate of war profiteers.” According to the port director, these individuals are attempting to manipulate the nation’s power structure with an eye on the 2029 horizon.
Furthermore, Waly Diouf Bodiang positioned the PASTEF party as the dominant force in the country. As the party prepares for its upcoming congress, he claimed it stands as the leading political entity in Sénégal, though he did not provide specific statistics to support this assertion.
