Algeria and Chad boost infrastructure ties with new agreement

The Governments of Algeria and Chad have inked a landmark agreement in N’Djamena, Chad, to fast-track joint infrastructure projects, particularly in public works and transportation.

This landmark pact reinforces bilateral cooperation between the two nations and expedites the implementation of memorandums signed earlier this year, as confirmed by an official statement from the Algerian Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure.

Trans-Saharan highway feasibility studies to advance in Chad

The agreement was finalized during a high-level meeting in N’Djamena, the second day of Algeria’s official working visit to Chad. The signing ceremony was attended by Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Road Unblocking, and Maintenance, Amir Idriss Kourda.

Key Algerian officials present included the Director-General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and senior executives from Cosider Group and the National Society of Public Works (SNTP).

Chad’s delegation comprised the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and senior government officials. During the discussions, Chad’s Infrastructure Minister highlighted the rapid progress in executing bilateral agreements, citing accelerated groundwork since the initial accords were signed in Algiers on April 22. This progress includes mutual technical assessments and the initiation of feasibility studies for the trans-Saharan highway project traversing Chad’s territory.
