Bénin unveils next seven-year government action plan

The Government of Bénin is set to unveil its next strategic roadmap for the 2026-2033 period during the September political return. The finalized Programme d’Action du Gouvernement (PAG) reflects a comprehensive vision for the nation’s future.

Key priorities shaping the 2026-2033 action plan

Government spokesperson Léandre Wilfried Houngbédji has outlined the core objectives of the upcoming Programme d’Action du Gouvernement (PAG), which aims to build on existing reforms while introducing fresh initiatives in social, economic, and security domains.

The strategic blueprint is structured around three central pillars:

• Eliminating extreme poverty: Implementing targeted programs to improve living standards across vulnerable communities.
• Reducing territorial disparities: Ensuring balanced development across all regions of Bénin.
• Strengthening national security: Enhancing law enforcement and community resilience to safeguard citizens.

Government efficiency and public participation

To ensure effective execution, the government is revamping its operational framework. This includes monthly cabinet meetings, bi-monthly inter-ministerial committees, and thematic cabinet discussions to monitor progress closely.

In alignment with Bénin’s commitment to the Open Government Partnership, the finalization of the PAG will incorporate extensive public consultations. These sessions will take place in all twelve departments, allowing citizens to voice their concerns and influence state investments tailored to regional needs.
