Devastating fire ravages Kpalimé Chateau market

A fierce blaze swept through the Chateau market in Kpalimé, located within the Kloto 1 commune. The incident, which occurred during the night of Sunday 6 September to Monday 7 September 2026, caused massive material destruction but fortunately resulted in no loss of life.

How the disaster unfolded

The flames erupted shortly after midnight in the market’s temporary relocation zone. Fed by wooden stalls and highly combustible materials, the fire rapidly swept through neighboring stands and shelters.
