Côte d’Ivoire’s JOURIE 2026 launches with focus on digital education transformation

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire — The 2026 Open Days for Research and Innovation in Education (JOURIE 2026) kicked off on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the National Higher School of Statistics and Applied Economics (ENSEA) in Abidjan. Organized by the Ministry of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Training (MENAET), the event centers on the theme: “Transforming education through digital innovation: sustainable solutions for a quality school system.”

The two-day forum, concluding on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, aims to foster a culture of research and leverage scientific findings alongside pedagogical innovations to elevate the quality of education in Côte d’Ivoire. A key focus is the integration of digital solutions to enhance learning outcomes and educational equity.

Addressing attendees, Dr. Inza Meité, Director of Studies, Strategy, Planning, and Statistics (DESPS), emphasized that JOURIE 2026 represents a collective platform to explore how research and technology can reshape schools, from primary to higher education. He highlighted the event’s role in bridging the gap between academic research and policy-making, ensuring that educational reforms are grounded in reliable data and robust analysis.

“This edition of JOURIE is a prime opportunity to showcase research findings, share pilot projects, unveil technological solutions, and foster dialogue among stakeholders,” Dr. Meité stated. He further underscored the ministry’s commitment to positioning digital tools as catalysts for quality, equity, and efficiency in the education sector, aligning with national goals for inclusive, high-standard learning.

In his opening remarks, N’Guessan Koffi’s technical advisor, Kouadio Kouman, reiterated the government’s resolve to anchor educational reforms in evidence-based practices that meet international benchmarks. He described digital technology not merely as a tool but as a strategic enabler—one that accelerates systemic change and unlocks opportunities for a more equitable, accessible, and high-performing Ivorian school system.

Kouadio Kouman also noted that JOURIE 2026 serves as a collaborative space for stakeholders, including researchers, educators, innovators, policymakers, technical partners, and financiers. The discussions will span critical areas such as governance, innovation, teacher training, infrastructure development, and inclusion—all aimed at shaping the future of Côte d’Ivoire’s education landscape.
