Gabon urged to upgrade SOGARA refinery to cut fuel imports

As a leading oil producer in Central Africa, Gabon continues to grapple with a paradoxical economic challenge: its heavy reliance on imported refined petroleum products. Recognizing this vulnerability, the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) is urging the government in Libreville to expedite the modernization of the Gabonese Refining Company (SOGARA), a move seen as essential for easing fiscal strain and safeguarding regional foreign reserves.
