Ivorian president celebrates record financial mobilization for national development plan

« The overwhelming success of this financial mobilization underscores the trust the international community places in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic resilience, its robust policy framework, and its clear development trajectory, » declared President Alassane Ouattara following the conclusion of the 2026-2030 National Development Plan (NDP) Consultative Group meetings held in Abidjan on July 8-9.

The event brought together over 2,000 investors from 49 countries, representing a diverse delegation of financial institutions, investment funds, commercial banks, employers’ associations, public and private enterprises, as well as key development partners, all present at the highest level.

The two-day deliberations culminated in financial commitments totaling $80 billion—equivalent to 47,820 billion West African CFA francs—a figure nearly four times the original funding target of 11,138.2 billion CFA francs.

The 2026-2030 NDP is anchored in a bold vision: « To build a Great Nation that is stable, ambitious, and united. » With a projected total investment of 114,838.5 billion CFA francs—approximately $209 billion—over five years, the plan relies on the private sector to drive 70.2% of this transformation, positioning it as the primary engine of economic and social progress.

The NDP’s six strategic pillars reflect a comprehensive development agenda: peace, security, and stability; agriculture and agro-industrial growth; private sector expansion and industrialization; human capital development; critical infrastructure; and governance modernization alongside state efficiency.

Macroeconomic targets are equally ambitious, aiming to elevate Côte d’Ivoire to the status of an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, with a per capita GDP of $4,500 and a poverty rate reduced to below 20%.

President Ouattara emphasized that the state’s role is to translate this unprecedented financial backing into tangible benefits for every Ivorian—more schools, hospitals, roads, jobs, opportunities, and shared prosperity.

« Together, with unwavering confidence, determination, and unity, we will forge ahead in building a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and inclusive, » he affirmed.
