Lake region leaders rally communities against terror threat

The shores of Lac province have become a frontline in the fight against violent extremism, where His Majesty Brahim Koromi Mahamat, paramount leader of the Boudouma Gouria I canton, has launched a critical grassroots campaign to unite local populations against the looming threat posed by Boko Haram.

This week-long sensitization tour took the delegation across both island communities and mainland settlements, fostering direct engagement with residents in every district under the canton’s jurisdiction. The initiative brought together traditional leaders, influential figures, and peace advocates to deliver a unified message: stand together, stay alert, and confront extremism as one.

The core message resonated at every stop: “Strengthen our bonds, deepen peaceful coexistence between clans, guard our shared peace, and reinforce collaboration between civilians and security forces” working to neutralize terrorist threats in Lac.

In a region frequently scarred by terrorist raids and violent attacks, this outreach carries both symbolic weight and strategic urgency. It reflects the resolve of traditional leadership to resist fear, reject division, and counter radicalization through collective action.

By meeting face-to-face with villagers, addressing their fears, and emphasizing the power of unity, His Majesty Brahim Koromi Mahamat is reinforcing a culture of shared resilience across the province.
