Last summer, PSG made a quiet but significant move in the transfer market. After an impressive second half of the season, Gianluigi Donnarumma left the club, and Lucas Chevalier arrived from LOSC for around €40 million, excluding bonuses. The French goalkeeper was expected to be Paris’s long-term starter, but after a disappointing start, he quickly lost his place to Matvey Safonov.

PSG decides to keep Lucas Chevalier
The Russian international has held on to the starting spot after displacing Lucas Chevalier, and it was Safonov who led the club to a back-to-back Champions League title. That situation could suggest an uncertain future for the former Lille man at PSG. However, the capital club has decided to keep him this summer. A transfer of Lucas Chevalier is therefore not on the table. His attitude and the signals he sent during the second half of the season have apparently convinced the PSG staff to retain him.
A young goalkeeper arrives
At the same time, PSG is planning for the future in goal. Alessandro Longoni, an 18-year-old Italian goalkeeper, will join the club on a free transfer from AC Milan. He will compensate for the departure of Renato Marin, who will be loaned for one season to CD Nacional, playing in the Portuguese top flight. In other words, while Matvey Safonov and Lucas Chevalier will continue to compete for the starting spot at PSG next season, Alessandro Longoni and Renato Marin could eventually replace them in the long run.
