Paris Saint-Germain suffered a 2-1 defeat against Paris FC during the 34th and final matchday of Ligue 1. This fixture, largely without significant stakes for the champions, now sees PSG shifting its complete focus towards the highly anticipated Champions League final.
In their concluding Ligue 1 fixture, Paris Saint-Germain experienced a 2-1 loss to Paris FC. Following the match, Marquinhos, the esteemed Parisian captain, offered his reflections on the outcome and provided an assessment of their Ligue 1 campaign, before outlining the team’s immediate sights on the upcoming Champions League final.
“We have two weeks to thoroughly prepare for this final objective”
“We consider the entire context,” the PSG captain shared. “Everything that unfolds, especially in a defeat, presents opportunities for learning and improvement. It’s clear we didn’t perform as required; we needed to do better, particularly in the first half where we weren’t operating at our usual standard. We did manage to score in the second half, but we must maintain our momentum.”
“We now have two crucial weeks to meticulously prepare for this ultimate goal,” Marquinhos continued. “The championship ceremony was a positive moment, and within the circumstances, it was the only appropriate action. We rightfully celebrated this title, for which we worked tirelessly throughout the year. Ligue 1 is an exceptionally challenging league to conquer, especially this season. We’re approaching the season’s conclusion with significant challenges still ahead. Reaching a Champions League final represents one of the pinnacle achievements in any season. For me, playing in a final here in Paris marks my third in 13 years, underscoring just how demanding it is. This is an exhilarating end to the season. Despite today’s loss, we will extract valuable lessons for improvement. I am confident our coach will ensure we are fully focused and make necessary enhancements over these two weeks as we gear up for the Champions League final.”
