Partnership drives digital inclusion for ivorian youth

Orange Côte d’Ivoire and UNDP join forces to boost digital skills for young people

Abidjan — A landmark agreement has been signed in Abidjan to fast-track digital inclusion and youth empowerment across Côte d’Ivoire. The partnership between Orange Côte d’Ivoire and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) aims to bridge the digital divide, with a strong focus on young women and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Sealed on May 21, 2026, the collaboration will focus on launching targeted digital literacy programs, nurturing startups, and expanding digital hubs into rural and underserved communities. At the heart of this initiative is the Orange Digital Center, a dynamic platform designed to equip young people with essential digital skills and business support.

Blerta Cela, UNDP Resident Representative in Côte d’Ivoire, emphasized the significance of this partnership: “This agreement marks a pivotal step toward building a more inclusive and sustainable digital future for Côte d’Ivoire. By leveraging private sector innovation and international partnerships, we can unlock new opportunities for young people and vulnerable communities.”

Mamadou Bamba, CEO of Orange Côte d’Ivoire, echoed this commitment, stating that the company remains dedicated to empowering youth and marginalized groups through meaningful digital job creation and entrepreneurship.

Together, the partners aim to position Côte d’Ivoire as a regional leader in the digital economy. Their joint efforts will align with the National Development Plan (NDP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that digital transformation contributes to broader economic and social progress.
