Sénégal calls for calm between president diomaye faye and pm sonko

A prominent voice in Ziguinchor has urged for national unity and resilience as Senegal faces political turbulence at the highest levels. Speaking on iRadio, Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara highlighted the growing concerns among citizens about the current state of affairs.

« The Senegal we love is going through very testing times,” he remarked. “Our leaders must rise above divisions and prioritize dialogue to safeguard the nation’s stability.” His appeal comes as the country witnesses heightened tensions within its executive branch.

In his address, Aïdara emphasized that both President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko must embody resilience to steer Senegal toward a peaceful future. He called for a renewed commitment to the values of the International Day of Peace, urging them to set aside differences for the greater good.

« The head of state and the head of government must lead by example, fostering an environment where peace and stability prevail,” he stated. “The people of Senegal deserve better than uncertainty and division.”

The remarks reflect widespread apprehension among the populace, who fear further instability. Aïdara’s plea for calm underscores the urgency of restoring confidence in the country’s leadership.

« What we see and hear in the public discourse is deeply unsettling,” he said. “No Senegalese wants to witness such turmoil at the heart of our government. We must act now to prevent deeper crises.”

His direct appeal to both leaders—Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko—was clear: Choose dialogue over discord, peace over polarization.
