Dakar, 24 February – Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet will face Senegal’s National Assembly today for a high-stakes session of parliamentary questions. This engagement, mandated every three months under Article 104 of the Assembly’s rules, allows legislators to scrutinize government performance and policy execution.
The meeting is scheduled to run for 202 minutes, featuring 14 distinct questions. Ten of these will come from the Pastef-Les patriotes parliamentary group—the ruling party’s majority bloc—while Takku Wallu, the main opposition coalition, has been allocated two questions, and the remaining two go to independent deputies. First Vice-President Ismaëla Diallo will preside over the proceedings, ensuring adherence to parliamentary procedure.
This accountability exercise is designed to enhance openness and public trust in state affairs. It marks the fifth such session since Sonko’s appointment as head of government, reinforcing the constitutional obligation of executive oversight.
